Christian Voters
Deserve Better than McClintock's Poseur Candidacy

Now that Bill Simon has left
the race for California Governor, Tom McClintock emerges as the perceived conservative
Republican candidate and the only alternative to conservative-in-name-only Arnold
Schwarzenegger. Conservative Republicans all across the state are urging folks to unite
behind McClintock so that conservative issues will prevail in the event that Gray Davis is
recalled.
Christians should not be fooled by this poseur candidacy though.
McClintock is merely the "perceived" conservative. He is not the
real deal.
A casual perusal of McClintock's website (www.tommcclintock.com) reveals that McClintock intentionally
ignores the issues that matter most to Christian and conservative voters. As of today
(September 2, 2003) McClintock only mentions the car tax, the energy crisis, worker's
compensation, and government waste. Nothing more.
Surely, these are very important issues for Californians.
But where is any mention of the abortion issue? Over 40 million babies
have been slaughtered since 1973, many of them Californians. It is impossible for our land
to prosper when the blood of our innocents continues to be shed. Why doesn't McClintock
lead on this issue by exposing the holocaust realities of abortion?
Where is any mention of the gun confiscation issue? Californians have been
stripped of their rights to keep and bear arms and are prisoners in their own state to
thug violence and lawlessness. Why doesn't McClintock lead on this issue by educating
voters about their Second Amendment rights?
Where is any mention of the immigration issue? Immigration is probably the
single most important issue to Californians as our culture becomes diluted daily by
foreign influence. Why doesn't McClintock lead on this issue by condemning the use of
public funds on illegal aliens and making immigration reform a top priority?
McClintock intentionally ignores these issues - unless asked.
Recently, Terry Anderson, Southern California radio host, said that unless
a candidate leads with our issue, he does not deserve our vote. If we are required to ask
what that candidate believes on a particular issue, Anderson basically said, then he is
not our man.
We deserve a champion - a candidate who will lead with our issues with a
passion and fire in the belly so that the entire state will know what he believes and what
issues are important to him.
Even if the candidate loses the election, at least our issues will have
come to light and could spark debate and contemplation amongst the electorate for long
after the election itself.
Unless we talk about our issues, voters will have no reason to consider
our positions now or any time thereafter.
Ignoring the issues means contentment with the status quo.
Obviously, McClintock does not see the issues of abortion, gun
confiscation and immigration as important. Otherwise, he would create media attention and
set himself apart from other candidates.
We need a candidate whose name will become synonymous with our issues.
If asked in media interviews about a particular subject, McClintock
routinely answers with his pre-packaged sound bite intended to placate conservatives and
Christians.
This, by the way, is the typical Republican approach to quelling that
"annoying" right wing and keeping them in the party. For us, it is always to the
back of the bus. The Republican Establishment tells Christians, You should be satisfied
for what you've got, And don't you dare vote for a third party candidate lest you elect
one worse.
The typical fear tactic.
Well, this writer won't be bamboozled into voting for a phoney-baloney
conservative who ignores our most important issues.
It is time to put principle above politics.
The Constitution Party affiliate, the American Independent Party, offers a
candidate who is much more deserving of our votes: Diane Templin. As
voters can see from visiting Templin's website at http://www.votefordiane.org,
Diane is unafraid to mention these and other issues that matter to Christian
Constitutionalists. [Note
from Author: On 9/10/2006,
I resigned from the Constitution
Party,
and have since joined the
American Heritage Party,
America's only explicitly Christian party.]
Endorsed by 100% Pro-life PAC, Templin is the only
candidate who will come out on these and other issues that matter to our cause.
The principled voter will vote accordingly.
