Burning the Rainbow
Flag

Why should the
rainbow flag be any different?
People burn Old Glory all the time. They exercise
their freedom of speech by igniting the Stars and
Stripes aflame and swirling the embers to and fro. You
see it everywhere. You see it often.
If there is any banner that has ever been defaced,
demolished, disfigured and desecrated, no banner has
ever been more so than the Star Spangled Banner.
Why not the rainbow flag? Why is it any different?
According to
Wikipedia, "The rainbow
flag, sometimes called 'the freedom flag', has been used
as a symbol of gay and lesbian pride since the 1970s."
Last weekend at the 36th Annual San Francisco
Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender (LGBT) Pride Parade
and Celebration, hundreds of thousands of people packed
the sidewalks to see the annual parade of debauchery.
According to Simone Sebastian and Demian Bulwa, staff
writers for the San Francisco Chronicle, in their
article, "Huge
Celebration of Pride", "People poured out of
BART and Muni stations and climbed onto streetlight
poles and newspaper stands for better views. Others
peered from hotel and apartment windows, waving rainbow
flags or dancing -- one man in his underwear -- to the
marching bands' music.
"Bare breasts and pierced chests spotted the parade,
which spanned more than a mile from Beale to Eighth
streets."
The scene in San Francisco resembled more of a
depraved orgy than anything that freedom might have to
offer.
Contrary to the peddlers of Gay Pride, the rainbow
flag is anything but a freedom flag. It is a bondage
flag, no pun intended. Advocates for Gay Pride promote
the antithesis of liberty. They advocate and promote
immorality, debauchery, wickedness, degeneracy and
perversion. They advocate rebellion against the Holy
Word of God, and therefore God Himself.
By promoting Gay Pride, they advocate sin, the wages
of which is death. (Romans
6:23) Advocates of Gay Pride therefore
promote death, and they blindly label it "living life to
its fullest".
It is ironic that those flaunting the rainbow flag
view it as a "freedom flag" that somehow promotes
liberty. According to the Word of God, there can only be
liberty where the Spirit of the Lord is (2
Cor 3:17), and the Spirit of the Lord will
never be found in partnership with sin.
Contrary to a truly free people, unrepentant
homosexuals live in a state of bondage and slavery. They
act upon the deluded notion that their licentiousness is
liberty and they foolishly wave their flag to
communicate their folly. By promoting Gay Pride,
homosexuals promote the antithesis of freedom.
Many people reading this commentary will flood my
email in-box with accusations of "gay bashing." They
will demand, "How can you be so intolerant?" Some will
spew, "You're a homophobic hate-monger." Still others
will play the "religious bigotry" card.
However, the fact of the matter is that homosexuals
are no different than any other unrepentant sinner. This
writer wishes to see them saved. The good news is that
homosexuals indeed can be saved and can receive eternal
freedom if they simply repent of their sins and rely
upon the atoning sacrifice of Jesus Christ, and Him
alone.
If they truly believed in genuine liberty and
freedom, then they would proclaim the Name that is above
all other names, the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. There
is salvation in none other. "[F]or there is none other
name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be
saved." (Acts
4: 10-12)
Only Christ's own people will enjoy eternal salvation
and ultimate liberty, but those who reject Him will be
cast into the lake of fire. (Revelation
20:15) Thus, unrepentant sinners, homosexual
or otherwise, will inevitably burn forever. Christians
who preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ to these lost
neighbors therefore exercise acts of loving kindness.
They preach truth in love, and seek freedom and liberty
for the lost.
Most activists of the Gay Pride movement will not
like this. In fact they will hate it, and they will hate
the followers of Jesus Christ because they first hated
Christ.
But one way or the other, whether in this life or the
next, they will soon realize that it is better to burn
their rainbow flag and let those embers fly.
